Welcome back to term 4 with Kimmba. This is the busiest term for Kimmba because we’ve got our annual Bunnings sausage sizzle and end of year concert. Details about these two events are discussed below. They’re both great ways to meet other parents and get involved with the Kimmba community.

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Fund Raiser

Melbourne Cup Day 2009 is the day when Kimmba will be holding it’s Annual Sausage Sizzle fundraising event for this year. Kimmba relies heavily on raising money for children’s learning materials and ongoing stationary costs so this event is a very important day on the Kimmba social calendar.

Attached is a roster and list of food and equipments that are needed on the day. We ask parents to nominate foods or equipment – whatever you’re able to contribute. All contributions will be gratefully received. We also take cash donations for this fund raising event if families are not available to help on the day or provide other equipment.

End of Year Concert and Kimmba Open Day

Saturday the 28th of November from 1-3 pm will be Kimmba’s end of year concert and open day. It will be held at the Adjani Centre, 284 Thompsons Road, Bulleen. Volunteers for setting up and face painting are invited to arrive at the Centre by 11.45am to get things ready by 12.40pm.

Tickets are now available - $10 per seat. The overall cost to stage this event is more that $3,000 so we need families’ support to make it a success and to try and cover costs as much as possible. Seats are allocated and we encourage you to bring along as many family members and friends as possible so they can share in the joy of your children’s achievements.

Pre-purchasing of 2009’s Kimmba Concert DVD is now available. 2007’s Kimmba Concert DVD was hugely popular and is still being used by families as an exciting memory of the event and learning resource (children can practice the songs at home). Parents will get the chance to see the 2007 Kimmba Concert DVD during term 4 sessions so they can see how worthwhile this production is for their children. Pre-purchased DVDs will be discounted – only $25 – a saving of $5, so don’t miss out on this chance to own wonderful memories of your child’s early development and learning.

Enrolment Forms

Parents will be asked to fill out a new enrolment form this term. To conform to Playgroup Victoria regulations we are required to update all contact and medical details for all children enrolled in our playgroups. The new enrolment forms have been reformulated to make the administration process easier. We ask for your patience and cooperation in filling out the new enrolment form as clearly as possible.

Annual Enrolment Fees

From the 5th of October until the 1st of November 2009, reenrolment for Kimmba’s sessions in 2010 will be open and available for Kimmba families. After the 1st of November enrolment will be available for everyone including new families that want to start learning with Kimmba.

The annual enrolment fee is still $50 (per child per year) and from 2010 there will also be a $100 deposit, which will come off 2010 Term 1 and Term 4 fees. Our new volunteer enrolment officer Su San will be available to assist parents with enquiries every Friday from 10-11.30am on 9842 8951.

Payments by cheque or cash need to be in a sealed envelope clearly marked with 1. Your child’s name, 2. Language, 3. Session day and time because we have many sessions and this will assist with the smooth running of the enrolment process. We thank you for your help with this because our committee members and voluntary officers need as much help and assistance to keep Kimmba’s fees at an affordable rate.

Parents survey

We will be conducting a survey this year to gather parents’ feedback about Kimmba’s classes. Last year the information we gathered from the survey was really valuable and helped us to improve our classes and teaching to provide an even better service.

Copies of surveys will soon be available at playgroups sessions.
