Welcome back from the holidays and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! We hope the year of the Tiger will be a great one for you and your families.
1. We have had a great start to 2010 with most classes full before or soon after our first week. Also we have families on the waiting list for the German playgroup for term 2! This has been made possible by great teamwork from teachers and volunteer parents. Without all your hard work and enthusiasm behind Kimmba, we couldn't make any of this happen.
2. Teacher Kirra and Jessica have left Kimmba for the time being due to their study plans. We are pleased to announce Winnie Ng has joined us to take over Kirra's Saturday class and Wendy is taking Jessica's primary level 2 class on Sat. Icho has also returned to take over all Jessica's week day classes and Wendy's Sat kinder class. All these changes have been smooth transitions and hopefully all parents and children have all settled in well with their new classes and teachers.
3. Prahran bilingual ELC has attracted many new families to join us. We have new enrolments almost daily. It's likely that before we open our door in April, we will already be offering waiting list for families. Spaces are filling really fast so please tell your friends and families about it and please contact Marisha if you would like to have more details about our Prahran bilingual ELC. Melbourne Language Picnic 2010
Kimmba is sponsoring an exciting event for children and their families especially interested in bilingual and languages education. It's called the Melbourne Language Picnic to be held at the Collingwood Children's Farm on the 21st of March from 9am - 5pm. Entry to the farm will be free on that day so it's a great opportunity to visit the farm as well as join in with the music, fun activities (treasure hunts, games in different languages etc), meet other families from different language backgrounds and learn more about Melbourne's bilingual education scene. TV and some media coverage will be there on the day. So it is a great opportunity to meet like-minded parents and share some bilingual stories.
We will be participating in the music and story-telling time in the picnic, similar to our end of year performance last year so parents will be given songs and performance/actions that children need to do next week. We will need all children to wear Kimmba T-shirt for the day so we can find each other. We will put up the poster and a timetable of our performance for the day. We need to know how many parents can join us before we can arrange for the music and story, so please let your teacher know.
